Philippines: Mysteries, And The Paranormal
05.25.07 (9:02 pm)   [edit]

Philippines: "The Pearl Of the East" as it was called is rich in culture and heart taking beautious sceneries, but there's one more thing in the Philippines that every Filipinos have heard, and most have believe.. the paranormal.

Philippine culture is rich in fables, and tales, and there's one more thing Filipinos love to talk about with in a family or friend gathering, even on an afternoon or after dinner, these are stories of kapre's, nuno sa punso, white lady, aswang, diwata, at kung ano ano pang mga pangyayari.

These paranormal sighting stories are very well known across Philippines, mostly on provinces from those who 've actually experienced it and seen it. I'm sure you also have them or believe them in your own country, it just these beings have probably have a different names in your country.

What is a:

Kapre: A kapre is a giant who is mostly seen sitting on bamboo trees scaring passers-by on their way. It is also mostly seen puffing a tabako or ciggar. Kapre's have hairy bodies. I haven't seen one myself but I won't wait to see one to believe, stories I've heard, I think is enough to say that these creatures maybe really exists.

Nuno sa punso:  Nuno also called duwende, or dwarf in English, but Americans call them gnomes. Punso is what Filipino call the nuno's personal dwelling space. Punso is a mounted, little hill like usually seen beside trees. Nuno's are the guardians of buried treasures underneath the earth and it says they can choose a good heart to which they can give the the treasure. Also there is a belief that there is always something or someone to be sacrifice as an exchange for such treasures. Filipinos usually says "tabi-tabi po apo," when they pass by a punso or these little hills. "tabi-tabi po apo" literally means "excuse me great one/ great ancestor," sometimes I would here my mom follow this phrase with "please excuse me on my way since you can see me but I can't see you." It is believe that if you step on an unseen, small being such as a nuno or gnome, one should have an offering of rice to where you have probably step onto these beings and say you are sorry to undo their wrath of harming you.

White Lady: The name says it. A white lady is a lady usually seen wearing white gowns or white dress walking or crossing roads, sometimes have seen floating on air. Reports of sightings from Magandang Gabi Bayan, a Philippine night news, by Filipinos who have experienced seeing them, also includes that these ladies will hitch a ride from drivers and it will then suddenly vanish when they reach their destinations such as an old tree or a balete tree.

Balete Tree: The magic tree, or I can say "the tree of the unknown," since balete trees are associated with all these beings. This trees are believe to be inhabited by one or most of these beings, also it serves as a portal for them from their own worlds to ours. Sometimes diwata's or fairies are also associated with these trees. If you see a balete tree with many fireflies at night, it is said that that tree is inhabited.

Aswang: is similar to vampires, in a sense that they need blood to live. They leave their lower part of hteir body (from waist below) and find their victims flying at night (from waist to head.) It is said that to kill an aswang one has to find their lower body that they left while hunting and scatter salts in it before the sun dawn or before they get back. By putting salts in theri lower, they can't get back to it and reattach it, and they will die as the sun shines on them on the dawn. They transfrom into animals such as a big dog or a bird at night specially during new moon or fullmoon. They also love pregnant women, they can always sense a pregnant woman and stories from preggy women's says that these creatures has the ability to stick their long, yarn like tongue from the pregnant's womans' roof to the woman's tummy in her bedroom to abduct the baby.

Diwata: Or fairies, are associated with the nature or the woodland. Stories I can recall about diwata's are people hearing angelic, so beautiful song from a lady at night while everyone on the neighborhood are sleeping. They mostly invite human's to their world through crossing or entering a tree. It is also a belief that if a fairy or any other being invited you to eat their foods specially black colored foods, you won't have the chance to get back, and that their is a difference in there, such as a hundred earth years could only be just a day in their time.

Kulam: Or withcraft is also widely known and believe in the Philippines. Kulam is more believe and viewed as evil in such a way that it is used for revenge, and envious people. Kulam in the Philippines is more of a hereditary, pass from a grandmother or mother to child.

Anting-anting: Or talisman's or also so popular. It is said that Holy Week is hte perfect time to make a Talisman Hunting, since talisman's are so powerful during this time. Peebles is one kind of anting-anting that one can acquire from a banana blossom. One should have a pure heart to deserve such power. Stories of anting-anting's powers ranges from strength, invisibililty, has the power to fight diseases, and heal and so on. Your great grandmother, or your grandmother could have one of these anting-anting, since they are usually the one who have possess such powerful talisman's.

Agimat: Agimat or amulet is synonymous to talisman's in such a way that both have a certain power. The difference is that, agimat or amulets are made of metals, and talisman's or anting-anting are those acquired from nature or animals.

These aren't just made up stories, Filipinos all around Philippines knows about this, of course there are those who don't believe, but many believe that these beings exists.  I'm sure you've heard experiences such as these from your lola and lolo (grandma and grandpa), from your uncle, tita, or from someone who have actually seen or experienced one.

3. To delete the original smilies that you want to be change or deleted, click the red x under Del. To delete more, just click the red x on the smilies you want to be change.  Everytime you choose to delete a smily, the three its three boxes will be empty. This is where you will put your new emoticons code and url.

Friendster Cbox
05.21.07 (11:51 am)   [edit]
READ THIS FIRST. CBOX IS NOT WORKING ON FRIENDSTER NOW. BUT THERE'S CBOX ALTERNATIRE THAT YOU CAN USE ON FRIENDSTER. TO READ AND LEARN WHAT CHATBOXES WORKD ON FRIENDSTER, CLICK AND READ IT HERE

Friendster had made an update, I just don't remember when, you all Friendster dweller's knew that. And since Friendster updated, some or I can say most of the codes for your profile won't work. Friendster also added a Media Box section, where I put my cbox before, and now it won't work. I really love having a cbox on my friendster profile so I experimented on how I can have it again, and yeah! I can put my cbox under my About Me  section since it don't work under my Media Box.

So this post on putting Cbox on Friendster was an update of my former post before Friendster updated. Follow the simple steps below on having a cbox under your About Me.

Putting a Cbox Under Your Friendster's About Me Section:

1. First register for a cbox account on cbox. Click here  to register if you don't have a cbox account yet.

2. Of course, costumize your cbox's color, and style, and also you can even add your favorite smilies into it.

3. If your done costumizing your cbox, go to Quick Setup, under CONTROL PANEL and copy your cbox code.

4. Now you need to convert the code. You can find the link to the converter on the left side of this blog under "My Links," it says Friendster Cbox Code Converter," Or you may click it here , Neither both will open to a new window.

5. Paste the cbox code on the first box. Select 'center' on the drop down menu then click convert.

6.Copy the converted code. Now log in to your Friendster Account.

7. On your Friendster, go to Edit My Profile.

8.Paste the converted code under your About Me section. If you want to have a cbox under your About Me section, make sure it is the only thing that is pasted in there, nothing else since there's only 2000 plus allowed letters under About Me section. DELETE anything else that is written under your  "About Me" such as "I'm cute, I'm friendly, I love going to malls, etc." I repeat it again, DELETE, all things written on your about me section, it has to be emtpy so that the converted code will have enough space.

9. Click Save. And then view your profile, check it if the code works.

Yeah, I know cbox shouldn't be under About Me section since this section is for you to describe yourself, but this is the only place I found that my cbox will work since the code wont work under my Media Section.

To change your cbox's emoticons, here's a link to my post how>>>

Agloco: Viewbar's Update!
05.21.07 (11:18 am)   [edit]

Agloco, the first online based company that is making a talk now on the internet world. What's new to Agloco now?

Members are so excited for the release of Agloco Viewbar which is now 2 months behind its launching schedule. Of course like any other businessess, even an online based business it is very important to make sure your product works perfectly well before you get it out there on the world, and that's what causes the delays on the Viewbar release, testing, and testing and making sure the Viewbar will be all well when it is release.

I've recieved an update email from Brian last week, stating how things will work once the Viewbar is released soon. Each member will get an email stating when it is their turn to download the Viewbar and a detailed instructions on the download which will be done on the  Agloco website. Members will be invited to download in groups of 50,000 a day for a two week period, in the order in which they've signed up. It is more like a "first come first serve basis." Shortly before the first set of download emails go out, you will recieved an email noticed that Agloco website will be down, or will be out of service for a few hours, so don't freak out if you go to the website and it displays "Page Cannot Be Dispalyed." This is part of the process of moving the Viewbar download system from the test server to the main servers.

Also members are notified to be aware of Agloco hours. Hours are earned during active surfing on the web. The Viewbar has a green light on it that notifies the Member when it is accruing time. Also the Viewbar contains a one click inactive button which turns it off and removes it from your screen any time, so you can choose when you will want to used the Viewbar on your Internet surfing. Referrals surfing will accumulate hours for you at a 25% rate. You can only get referral hours credit from the amount you directly surf, so if you surf 3 hours and your referral surf 4 hours you will only get credit for the first 3 of your referrals 4 hours. The Viewbar will be initially release for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 Pro, and 2000 Server. It will be later release For Mac and Linux version. The Viewbar works with IE 5.5 or higher and Firefox 1.5 or higher.

Why Are We Inviting You?!
05.21.07 (11:16 am)   [edit]

As an Agloco member, like other members out there who sometimes finds it hard to increase there referral network by inviting new members here's the main reason why I think people are not sure, in doubt to join us or thinks Agloco is another online scam. The last one I would say is the main block between Agloco and its future members who haven't signed up yet.

People that we are (members) inviting thinks Agloco  is a scam that's why they are hesitant to sign up. Now, why do they think its a scam? Because we're inviting and recruiting new members? And because it is free? Agloco was created by the same founders of AllAdvantage, if you were familiar with it. AllAdvantage paid out its members of more than 120 million of online advertising revenue.

We (Agloco members) are inviting new members to join Agloco because we want to increase our network referrals.

Why do we want to increase our network referrals? Because the larger and more member, Agloco will have, the more valuable it will be for advertisers. And Agloco rewards those members who help building the community by inviting more members to join.

And one reason why people is in doubt to join us is they are thinking that Agloco "is to good to be true," as a fellow member said on the Company Blog while trying to recruit a new member. "Why am I getting paid without investment or putting anything into it?"  which is then answered, "You are not getting something for nothing! You will be giving the Viewbar a small space in your computer monitor." As a member you will be earning by downloading the company's Viewbar and using it in surfing the web. The Viewbar is expected to be launch this early April, and Agloco is aiming to reach a 10 million members by July 1st and is then set to go public on London Stock Exchange shortly after.

Getting Paid By Surfing the Internet Using The Viewbar?

The Viewbar is what many online advertisers consider the extremely valuable. As a member, and if thinking  to be an Agloco member, you're choosing Agloco as your partner for commisions, referrals, and fees acumulated through everyday browsing. Using the Viewbar while browsing the Internet offers benefits to Agloco, advertisers and Internet companies. The Internet advertising industry is bomming, and companies are trying many different ways to get their information, products, and services in front of your eyes. Having the active Viewbar on the computer screen means that you are asking Agloco to be your commission partner. Many things you do on the internet make money for the middleman. Online activities such as dowloading free software such as Adobe Acrobat, joining communities such as Ebay and Myspace, searching such as on yahoo and google, and making online purchases in many cases generate money for a middleman, as one Agloco Development Team said. By using an active Viewbar, members and members wannabe designate Agloco to be their middleman. This how Agloco will make money, and this why Agloco will pay you back, doing a part as a company member. This is what I can call a 'give and take relationship.'

The only thing you have to risk here is time and effort.  Agloco is totally free to join online business company. They never require personal informations such as bank account, or credit cards.

Write and Earn: Be Published on AC
05.18.07 (8:00 pm)   [edit]

What is AssociatedContent?

AssociatedContent is a site where you can write articles, submit it on the website and earn. AssociatedContent or AC for short, pays from $3 and above, but first, when you submit an article for payment consideration, your article would first be reviewed by an editor before it would be publish on the site, so much being like a newspaper writer huh?! pretty cool!

You can write article for almost anything; Sports, Arts, Business, Education, Home Improvement, Legal, Politics, Lifestyle, Humor and many others. You can even submit your poetries and short stories, but unfortunately AC doesn't pay for short stories and poems, BUT you can earn through bonus points, AC gives a bonus for every 1000 visitors you have in your page.

On AC, you can choose to whether sell your article exclusively ( means that your article hasn't been previously published either online or in print, and will not be published elsewhere.) Choosing exclusive, you are giving the right to AC the full copyright ownership of your article once you accepted AC's offer. Or you can choose non-exclusive in which your article can be previously published, and you will retain the right to re-published your article.

AC only accepts Content Producers from US and Canada and articles written in English and Spanish. Yeah, I know it is unfair for those outside these countries, let's hope that AC would accept International writers soon.

I haven't submit any serious article to AC so far, because my mind wasn't ready somehow into serious brain storming but I have written poetry and a famous Filipino recipe so far, which I enjoyed writing. If you got experienced writing serious articles on any topic and you love writing, I am inviting you to be an AC Content Producer.

Mother's Day
05.11.07 (8:59 pm)   [edit]

It's Mother's Day once again, a special day for mom's to be recognized from their hard work. I've just read a poem titled Mama's Hands from Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. There is a phrase there which somewhat says, thanks mom for cooking, dish washing, laundry, scrubbing the floor and all these stuffs a mother would do. So I got an idea to write my own poem for my mom, thanking her for all the things she did for us.

______A Mother's Love________

Gentle as a flower is your touch

As you hold me in your arms,

Pure is your love as you held me tight

On some sleepless moonlit nights.

You often told me stories

As you tuck me in to bed,

And how could I forget when I'm sick

In your lap I'd fall asleep.

I know you're tired of working,

But still you're always there.

To cook for dad, and little John

And for my favorite meal.

You are there to caressed my fevered head

Put band aid on my cut finger,

You always there to cheer me up

When I'm having a bad day.

Thank you for being there guiding my way,

Giving the light I need,

And mom, we love you, and appreciate all the things you did

Happy Mother's Day.

(Chanter.)

Agloco Update!
05.11.07 (8:35 pm)   [edit]

Healing Herbs: Herbal Medicine Around Your Kitchen
05.04.07 (5:06 pm)   [edit]

These are herbs that I see my mom using since I was at a young age. Most of these were source of cure, herbs that can be found on your kitchen. These medicinal herbs cures the common colds, cough, lower cholesterol, and even cures kidney problems. Also some of these herbal medicines were what we've learned from listening to Ernie Baron's, Knowledge Power! radio station, back when I was 5 - 8 years old.

I know some of you won't be into herbal cures, and you might not be compatible to some of it here. If so, don't attempt to try if you are not used to these herbs and veges.

Aloevera =  Aloevera leaves are use as a shampoo. It helps hair growth and a shiny healthy hair.

Apple = "an apple a day gives you fewer doctors to pay." I've read these from the book "The Healing Powers Of Vinegars." I bet you've also heard the other one saying ," An apple a day keeps doctors away." Apple are really delicious fruits and is also what my mom would advice me to eat everytime I got an upset stomach. It works for diarrhea, like guava and avocado leaves.

Guava leaves / Avocado leaves =  Both are used to treat diarrhea. These two are I can say the most trusted diarrhea cure in the Philippines. Which is why having an avocado tree or guava tree in your backyard comes in handy aside from having fresh fruits. Pick young leaves, about a handful of either a guava or avocado leaves. Wash it thouroughly and boil it to a 1 - 2 cups of water. When it comes to a boil and the water turns to reddish or greenish color it would then be appropriate to cool it off for a bit into a cup. Drink it warm.

Carrots/tomatoes/squash = these veges helps in maintaining a good eyesight. Carrots is an excellent source of beta-carotine, which also one of my favorite veges. Tomatoes is a good source of lycopene and a fair source of beta-carotine and vitamin C, same as squash which also has lutein and xiaxanthin. I  really admire my uncle's eyesight, he's the oldest among my mom's side of the family, can't just remember his age though, but my mom is now 63. They were 7 siblings and 6 already wearing eyeglassess. My uncle said he used to eat tomatoes when he was still a young boy back in the Philippines. For those who spend lots of time on the computer, this are really an excellent veges.

Bittermelon = Or Ampalaya. From its name you can tell that it is a bitter vege, but this is my parents and my uncle's favorite vegetable, I don't know why. These vege helps on lowering cholesterol and giving strength. Both the leaves and fruit (also considered vege) are used as herbal remedies. I used to cooked with thinly sliced bittermelon fruit everytime I'm feeling bad, I do this before I catch a cough. Also my mom used to cook tinola with bittermelon leaves.

Minced garlic and onion = 1 teaspoon or tablespoon of minced garlic and onion, top with honey are one of the other herbal remedies we used to cure common colds, cough, even asthma, and to lower cholesterol.

Pineapple = Mom taught us (my brother and I), that eating pineapple in the morning, before eating anything else, cleanses the body system, the intestines and such. If you're not used to this, please don't do so.

Raddish = Good for maintaining a weel functioning kidney. It cures kidney problems. Also corn juice, both are good for kidneys.
