CURRENT MOON

Full Moon Beliefs
03.02.07 (7:32 pm)   [edit]

Gently bright and perfectly round as it drift into the night sky. That's what I noticed last night as my classmate and I drove home from school last night. Made me think... is it full moon yet? As I look at the moon it reminded me of childhood memories of full moon nights and some beliefs and stories  past along from grandparents to grandchildren, or mother to child. Made me think sometimes if there are basis or it's just to scare children from going out at night to play under the moon.

I was 9 to 12 years old when my neighbors and I used to enjoy playing hide and seek, and chasing games under the moonlight and sometimes sharing stories and beliefs associated with the fullmoon.

Philippines: It is a folk belief that an  aswang or synonymous to vampires, used to come out on fullmoon or new moon to find a victim either taking its half bodied form or taking the form of animals such as a big dog, a big bird, or even a cat.

Paranormal sightings of a kapre, a hairy giant with a big smoking cigarette on bamboo trees, a white lady, and a floating ball of light called St. Elmos Fire are tend to appear more on fullmoon or newmoon to people who's still out late at night among provinces.

This is and some, I've seen still used by mothers to scare their hardheaded children from going out to play at night. They would then say, " don't go outside or a nuno (gnome) will get you." or any other being that will appeal scary to their children. Make me wonder if it's true?

Well, on the bright side:

=Moving in to a new home before the moon is full until fullmoon is a good luck.

=Similar to starting a business or opening a business on waxing phase to fullmoon will bring good luck in the business.

=The light of the moon is use as a charger of amulets/ talismans for mystic people.

=And last I know but not the least, fullmoon is a romantic moments for lovers to take a walk and enjoy the moments of being together.

"By the light of the moon"

Lol Apple. Im not in love *grins* When I was in my homeland I used to hangaround in our rooftop with my cellphone and seeing the ricefield below on fullmoon. I also thought of probably seeing a 'wishing star' or meteor shower.

Yeah I've read that too while surfing. They also thought that there are more cases of homesides issues and other crimes during fullmoons. And like you said those babies born on fullmoon act crazy during these moon phase.
